(Prague, 5 March, 2026) Over the past year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority focused on sellers' compliance with their obligations under Act No. 634/1992 Coll. on Consumer Protection in connection with the provision of discounts when offering and selling goods. It carried out a total of 1,432 inspections within the inspection activity, and found breaches of legal regulations in 734 inspections, i.e. 51.26% of the total number of inspections carried out.

(Prague, February 25, 2026) Last year, the CTIA continued to inspect e-shops, focusing on those suspected of failing to comply with their legal obligations. Between January 2 and December 31, 2025, a total of 751 inspections were carried out to verify compliance with the obligations arising from Act No. 634/1992 Coll. on Consumer Protection and other legal regulations. Breaches of legal regulations were found in 639 inspections, i.e., 85.09% of the inspections carried out.

(Prague, February 17, 2026) In 2025, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority focused on enforcing the ban on offering, selling, and storing products infringing certain intellectual property rights. (Prague, February 13, 2026) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority regularly monitors and evaluates the quality of fuels on the Czech market. Last year, it collected a total of 2,425 fuel samples at domestic filling stations. 10 samples (0.4%) did not meet the specified quality requirements. The COI imposed a ban on the sale of 44,073.42 litres of fuel at a value of CZK 1,517,421.71.

(Prague, January 29, 2026) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority recommends using official sales points in the Czech Republic to pay the time-based fee for using toll roads (electronic highway vignettes), which drivers can purchase on the edalnice.cz website (the official e-shop of the Czech state). These points of sale do not charge any additional fees.

(Prague, January 12, 2026) Last fall, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority launched a special inspection action focused on Black Friday-type discount events. The inspections took place in brick-and-mortar stores and online shops. The aim of the inspections was to verify sellers' compliance with their legal obligations to inform consumers about discounts and to prevent deceptive practices that could mislead consumers.

(Brno, December 17, 2025) During this year's pre-Christmas period, inspectors of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, Southern Moravia and the Region of Zlín Inspectorate, focused, among other things, on the sale of toys at local markets and marketplaces in the region. As part of an inspection action in the first half of December, they carried out 11 inspections and found deficiencies in a total of 10 of them. The inspectors checked 19 types of toys, of which 18 were found to have deficiencies in product labeling and missing general warnings.

(Prague, 11 December 2025) In the third quarter of this year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority focused on the fulfilment of obligations arising from Act No.634/1992 Coll., on Consumer Protection, in connection with the provision of discounts when offering and selling goods. Within the framework of the inspection action, it carried out a total of 181 inspections; violations of legal regulations were detected in 83 inspections, i.e. 45.86% of the total number of inspections carried out.
