Sales prohibited in establishments over 200 square metres sales area on Christmas Eve from 12 am and on both Christmas Days

(Prague, 22 December 2023) The provision of the Act on Retail and Wholesale Opening Hours prohibiting sales on certain public holidays in establishments larger than 200 square metres and other establishments applies on the 1st and 2nd Christmas Day on 25 and 26 December, on Christmas Eve on 24 December from 12 to 24 noon, and on the Day of the Restoration of the Independent Czech State and New Year's Day on 1 January 2024.

CTIA inspected bazaars and pawnshops. In more than half of them it found infringements

In Hradec Králové and Pardubice Regions, CTIA found breaches in 7 of 9 inspections of the sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors

(Hradec Králové, 19 December 2023) On 6 December 2023, the CTIA Inspectorate of the Hradec Králové and Pardubice Regions, carried out an inspection action focusing on the investigation of complaints received regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to juveniles. Violations of law were detected in seven of nine inspections (77.7%).

Inspections of end-of-life products

(Prague, 14 December 2023) In the third quarter of this year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority inspected whether traders comply with the End-of-Life Products Act stipulating selected products. It carried out a total of 267 inspections in this area, and found breaches of generally binding legislation in 153 cases.

None of 5 inspected solariums complied with the requirements in České Budějovice

(České Budějovice, 11 December 2023) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority of the South Bohemian and Vysočina Regions carried out an extraordinary inspection action focused on the provision of services in tanning salons in České Budějovice. During the event, it carried out a total of 5 inspections of establishments offering consumer services of solariums as appliances for skin treatment using ultraviolet radiation.
