In eastern Bohemia, half of retailers sold alcohol to minors

(Prague, 30 May 2023) In May, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority of the Hradec Králové and Pardubice Regions carried out an extraordinary inspection operation focused on the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors. It carried out a total of 20 inspections and in 11 cases alcoholic beverages, tobacco products as well as electronic cigarettes were sold to persons under the age of 18.

CTIA bans unsafe USB charger for iPhone

(Prague, 19 May 2023) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority has found that a USB charger in the domestic market may pose a risk of electric shock to consumers. An immediate withdrawal of the product from the market has been ordered. The product is an OEM USB charger for iPhone, it was on the market without packaging and without any manufacturer or importer marking.

CTIA banned dangerous Christmas LED chain

(Prague, 15 May 2023) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority has found a product in the domestic market that may pose a serious risk of electric shock to consumers. The product in question is offered as LED Light Chain, the type/model number is AG-250LED.

3 fuel samples failed in March

(Prague, 5 May 2023) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority monitored the quality of fuels in March 2023. In total, 247 samples of fuels were taken and inspected and 3 samples failed to meet the quality requirements

Some merchants still provide alcohol to minors

(Prague, 21 December 2022) In the third quarter of 2022, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority invited persons under 18 years of age to inspections in 145 cases, including 77 cases where the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors was detected. CTIA banned 28 dangerous toys in 2022

In 2022, CTIA seized 36,349 counterfeits worth almost CZK 81 million

Inspections of extension cords show shortcomings in half of products

(Prague, 31 March 2023) Last year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority carried out a technical inspection focused on extension cables.  The CTIA inspected 46 products at 45 operators and found breaches of legal regulations at 26 operators, where it found 25 products with deficiencies.
