CTIA recalled 10 toys from the market in Q2 2022

(Prague, 11 October 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority continued to inspect the safety of toys in Q2 2022. It inspected a total of 554 toy models and found deficiencies in 207 models. Ten models were withdrawn from the market and reported to the Safety Gate system for the rapid exchange of information on dangerous products. In this period, it imposed a total of 75 fines amounting to CZK 1,036,500 for breaches of Act No 22/1977 Coll., on Technical Requirements for Products.

Number of taken counterfeits increased in Q2

(Prague, 7 October 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority continued its inspections in Q2 2022 aimed at the prohibition imposed to traders on offering and selling counterfeited goods. It carried out a total of 281 inspections and found violations of the prohibition on offering, selling and storing products infringing certain intellectual property rights in 107 inspections, which represented 38.1% of cases. Online sellers still breach law

(Prague, October 6, 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority focused on the compliance with applicable legislation in the area of e-commerce in the second quarter of 2022. In total, it carried out 245 inspections and found violations of legislation in 203 cases, which represented 82.9%. CTIA found more frequent breaches of the ban to sell alcohol to juveniles

(Prague, October 4, 2022) In Q2 2022, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority inspected the compliance with the law prohibiting the sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors, the Act on mandatory labelling of alcohol, the Act on excise duties and other legal regulations. In total, the inspectorate carried out 2,009 inspections and found violations of law in almost half of the cases. Jan Štěpánek has become the Director General of the CTIA

(Prague, 3 October 2022) Jan Štěpánek has been appointed the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority as of 1 October 2022. "Mr. Štěpánek has passed through the best sieve of a demanding selection procedure. I believe that he will capitalize on his qualities in his new position. I expect that the Czech Trade Inspection Authority under his leadership will vigorously protect the interests of consumers," says Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela.

4 fuel samples taken in August failed

(Prague, September 27, 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority found that the quality of fuels was also inspected in August 2022. A total of 244 fuel samples were taken at filling stations in the Czech Republic and 4 fuel samples failed to meet the quality requirements.
