(Prague, 27 September 2021) In the second quarter of 2021, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority continued to inspect the supply, sale and storage of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products. In this period, it carried out 1,646 inspections and found violations of Act No.65/2017 Coll., on Health Protection against the Harmful Effects of Drugs, and Act No. 353/2003 Coll., on Excise Duties, in 60 cases. (Prague, 25 January 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority continued inspections of children's toys in the third quarter of 2021. During this period, it inspected 525 toy models and found deficiencies in 212 models. 3 toy models were assessed as unsafe for the end user.

(Prague, January 21, 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority has evaluated an inspection operation focused on bazaars and pawnshops. It verified the traders' compliance with Act No. 253/2008 Coll., on Selected Measures against Legitimisation of Proceeds of Crime and Financing of Terrorism, Act No. 247/2006 Coll., on Limits on the Operation of Pawnshops and Other Establishments at Night, and other legislation. In total, 122 inspections were carried out and 56.5% of the inspected entities were found to have violated law.

(Prague, 7 January 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority evaluated 46 types of USB chargers for mobile phone devices and found deficiencies in 33 types of products. It found serious technical defects in 3 types and proceeded to withdraw unsafe chargers from the market.

(Prague, January 6, 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority has evaluated an action aimed at the safety of hand-held electric chainsaws. It inspected a total of 24 products and found deficiencies in 5 electric chainsaws.

(Prague, 30 December 2021) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority continued its quality inspections of fuels. 246 fuel samples were taken in November and, as in October, no noncompliant samples were found.

(Prague, 29 December 2021) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority has inspected the compliance of traders with the obligations arising from the Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council, which addresses unjustified geographical blocking and other forms of discrimination based on nationality, place of residence or place of establishment of customers within the internal market. CTIA carried out a total of 15 inspections and found breaches of this Regulation in 2 cases.

(Prague, 20 December 2021) The Středočeský and Prague Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority together with the Prague Ruzyně Customs Office carried out joint inspections of the departure terminals at the Václav Havel Airport. Breaches of the regulations detected.

(Prague, 17 December 2021) The approaching holidays and the threat of COVID-19 disease cause that consumers will be shopping online more often. At the end of the year, the CTIA deals with 40 to 50 complaints, enquiries or consumer submissions relating to e-shops every day. The vast majority of dissatisfied consumers complain about so-called "shopping galleries", long delivery times of months, or non-delivery of goods. Consumers from Slovakia also face this problem, according to the European Consumer Centre operating by the CTIA.
