Alcohol was sold to juveniles in 90 cases in second quarter of 2019

(Prague, October 7, 2019) In the second quarter of 2019, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority continued its inspections of compliance with the prohibition to sell alcohol and tobacco to juveniles. During this period, it carried out 1,457 inspections and besides noncompliance with the provisions of the Act on Consumer Protection it detected 147 breaches of the Act on Health Protection from the Harmful Effects of Drugs.

9 of 17 electric toys models failed inspections

(Prague, October 4, 2019) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority took part in an international project aimed at inspection of electric toys safety. 15 European countries participated. Within the project, the CTIA took 17 toys models, including 9 that were assessed as noncompliant. The total results proved that in the EU market electric toys occur, failing the requirements of applicable legal regulations. Discrimination in Prague centre

(Prague, September 25, 2019) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority lawfully imposed fines for discriminative conduct in the centre of Prague. At two workplaces, foreigners were charged higher amounts than Czech speaking consumers. In both cases, lawful fines amounting to CZK 60,000 were imposed.

Inspection results – mobile phones

(Prague, September 20, 2019) Last year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority carried out 53 inspections aimed at mobile phones. Their assessment showed defects in 15 types, mostly relating to the absence of EU Declaration of Conformity (CE), instructions for use, safety information, identification of trader and other contact details.

Alcohol was sold to juveniles at Slavnosti královny Elišky

(Prague, September 19, 2019) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority of the Hradec Králové and Pardubice Regions carried out inspections at the traditional historical event Slavnosti královny Elišky. Inspectors focused on selling alcohol to juveniles. The total of six inspections were carried out and five vendors sold alcoholic beverages to juveniles.

CTIA took more than 22,000 counterfeited products

(Prague, September 11, 2019) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority kept inspecting the offer and sale of counterfeits in the internal retail market. In the second quarter of 2019 it carried out 403 inspections and saw infringements in 300 cases, of which more than one third were counterfeited goods. Altogether, it secured 22,223 items of counterfeits in the value of originals amounting to more than CZK 34 million.
