(Prague, 5 November 2020) In the second quarter of this year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority inspected 307 models of toys for children under 14 years of age. It found deficiencies in 129 models. Most often it was missing information needed to identify the manufacturer or importer of the toy, as well as shortcomings in information for consumers, such as lack of warnings and instructions in the Czech language. During this period, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority assessed 4 toy models as dangerous.

(Prague, 3 November, 2020) At times of emergency, consumers are advised to proceed primarily with regard to their own health and that of others. We recommend that you postpone the handling of matters that are not strictly necessary until the situation calms down, when the operation of entrepreneurs returns to a normal mode. Nevertheless, many consumers deal with a situation when a two-year period soon expires and the establishment where they purchased the defective goods (shoes, electronics etc.) is temporarily closed.

(Prague, October 30, 2020) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority regularly monitors the quality of fuel throughout the Czech Republic. In September, 229 samples were taken and inspected and 1 diesel sample did not comply with the quality requirements.

(Prague, October 23, 2020) Large food stores can remain open for consumers on the day when we commemorate the establishment of the Czech Republic on October 28. The state of emergency enables traders to sell in spaces larger than 200 m2. This wasn’t possible in previous years.

(Prague, 20 October 2020) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority has inspected safety components for lifts serving in buildings or construction sites and are intended for the transport of persons and goods. The aim of this action was to inspect whether the specified safety components for lifts delivered to the Czech market meet the requirements of the relevant legislation. CTIA inspected 43 types of these products and found deficiencies in 17 of them.

(Prague, October 12, 2020) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority carried out an inspection action focused on the quality and sale of AdBlue liquid. It is used in diesel cars and is essential for reducing the harmful emissions of nitrogen oxide. During this year, CTIA carried out 38 inspections and had the quality verified in 7 samples. All tested AdBlue samples complied.

(Prague, September 18, 2020) During the pandemic period, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority responded to some of the restrictions adopted in connection with the occurrence of the coronavirus, when the marketplaces and ordinary shops were closed for most of the second quarter of 2020.
