Battery-powered toy “AMG JEEP Glow Car” contains excessive amounts of lead and poses a serious risk to the environment

(Prague, 11 September 2024) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority has found a product in the market that poses a serious risk. The product in question is the battery-operated toy "Svítící auto AMG JEEP ("AMG JEEP Light-up Car"). The toy poses a serious risk to the environment due to possible pollution. The CTIA has therefore imposed a protective measure on the distributor consisting of a distribution ban and a withdrawal of the product from the market.

(Prague, September 6, 2024) During the second quarter of 2024, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority focused on inspections of compliance with the ban on the offer, sale and storage of products infringing certain intellectual property rights and compliance with obligations arising from other legal regulations within the surveillance scope of the CTIA. It carried out 175 inspections, of which 59 inspections (33.71%) found breaches of the prohibition on the offer, sale and storage of products infringing certain intellectual property rights.

(Prague, 4 September 2024) On Tuesday 27 August, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority and the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic signed a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation. The document was signed on behalf of the Czech Trade Inspection by its Director General Jan Štěpánek and on behalf of the Czech Chamber of Commerce by its President Zdeněk Zajíček.

CTIA inspected the sale of refreshments and consumer goods at the Země živitelka exhibition and saw alcohol sale to juveniles

(České Budějovice, 3 September 2024) Staff of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, Regional Inspectorate of the South Bohemian and Vysočina Regions, carried out an extraordinary inspection action at the international agricultural exhibition Země živitelka. They carried out a total of 29 inspections, focusing on stand sales of refreshments and consumer goods, including inspections of the compliance with the technical parameters of the products. They found deficiencies in a total of 19 cases.

Toy inspections in the second quarter confirmed mainly deficiencies in manufacturer identification and mandatory labelling, with 117 breaches within 219 inspections

One sample of automotive petrol failed in July

(Prague, 22 August 2024) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority monitored the quality of fuels in July 2024. It took a total of 184 samples at filling stations in the Czech Republic, including 72 samples of automotive petrol, 84 samples of diesel fuel, 24 samples of LPG and 4 samples of CNG. One of the samples tested failed the quality requirements.
